If you would like to listen to Sid's races,  LIVE.  Please click here

OR  here Live Greyhound Radio for the tracks own commentator.

23rd December

Today was the final of the Mercury Trophy at Romford. and it was won by Alrita Lilac @ 5/1 in a time of 48.10. It would of been nice if Sid hadn't gone lame and could of taken part in it, I am sure he would of been in with a shout, but there you go, maybe next year, lol.

I would like to wish a very merry Christmas and happy new year to

Tony & Molly in Australia,  and the very best of luck with the puppies.  Susan in Scotland, if you do ever buy a Greyhound then please let me know who it is.  Also to Colin part owner of the London scurry winner Westdale Blue I hope he recovers from his injury very soon.  To Catfordrip who like Susan has been reading about Sid and sending us his best wishes from day one. And also to my mad Sister Tina who put a curse on my dog by wishing that his legs would drop off. No Xmas present for her this year. Dennis Wilson the breeder who sold Sid to me. Derek Knight & staffJim & Sue Reynolds & staff. also Mark & The Archers Syndicate. I wish you all, the best of luck with all your dogs. Not forgetting Paul from Sheffield I hope you and your dogs are keeping OK. Neil of magicgreyhounds.com  Tracy, Steve. And, as they say on the radio. anyone else who knows me, lol

This time next year I will just cut and paste this lot. lol

Lets hope that 2007 will be injury free for Sid in his last year of racing, HAPPY CHRISTMAS SID,

16th December

I walked Sid last week ( Sunday 9th Dec ) and I spoke to both Sue and Jim about Sid and his injury.  I asked Sue if she thought Sid would return to racing again and she said because it's not a fully torn muscle that she doesn't see any reason why he shouldn't. I asked Jim the same question and he said If we don't rush him back he might be OK, but if it goes again he's finished. Jim said, what you don't want to be doing is rushing the dog back with the track in the condition it's in at the moment, being a bit sticky and heavy going, as that wouldn't help him at all. I said I am in no rush to bring him back, if Sid returns to racing in February or March he would be in his last year of racing.

I will be walking Sid again tomorrow, weather permitting, and paying the Kennel bill. too.

My Daughter and I are considering buying a puppy between us, that can take over the racing roll when Sid retires, we see a nice litter advertised in the racing post but we just missed out as they had all been sold. they are out off Droopys Aggasi  &  Thank you Madam, Jim has got a few pups at his Kennels that are just a few months old and we are keeping an eye on them at the moment. They are out of  Maxie Rumble & Maries Flyer.  But we will see.

25th November

Good news and bad news this week.  Sorry for the delay in updating the site but I have just changed my ISP, I am now with SKY. I thought I had an Ethernet socket on my pc but when I went to plug the cable in after the switch over I found it was not there, opps. So off to Pcworld I go to buy one. On return to my home I open the box and think to myself thank god these things are so easy to put in these days. The instructions on the installation of the Netgear Ethernet card were so straightforward, they read, First install Ethernet adapter before installing the software, so I take the adapter out of the box to find a big red sticker saying, Make sure you install the software before connecting this adapter.  This is were I start swearing so I will say no more, lol.

Now lets talk about Sid. I went to walk him last Sunday 19th Nov and I was hoping to hear that his shoulder was ok and he will resume racing soon, and the good news is that Sid's shoulder is ok now, but unfortunately the demands of lazing about on his bed for the last 2 1/2 weeks has left him with Gracilis muscle injury on his N/H leg. now I can not really understand how he could of got an injury like that if he is supposed to be resting with a strained shoulder and to be honest I was a bit shocked when Sue told me. she said it was very swollen and bruised last week and the vet had put him on tablets, now Jim told me that the vet said it was not a torn muscle, which is good news because if you have a torn Gracilis, that would usually be the end of your racing career.

It looked like a dropped muscle to me which is not much better and I would expect Sid to be off for at least 8 weeks, but then what do I know, we will just have to wait and see. I am going to the kennels tomorrow to see Sid and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it looks a lot better than last week.

lastly, VIPARSHEDA won her first race at Romford last week at 4/1 over 750m, and a well deserved win it was too, coming from last to first to beat that rotten dog BOBBING DREAM  lol, by a short head. Congratulation to her owners Mr.P.M.Butler & Mr.P.J.Littley.

12th November

I have just returned home from the kennels where I was informed that Sid has a slight shoulder strain, that he quite possibly picked up in his last race. This means he will require a rest period of 2 to 3 weeks. With a bit of luck he should be back on the card for the first week of December.

My apologies to anyone who might of backed  BOBBING DREAM last night @ 5/4 Fav. She appeared to of had every chance to win the race but did not quite get up in time and was beaten by a very short head.  Viparsheda run a very big race to finish 3rd and I am sure it will not be long now until she has her first win at Romford.

11th November

Sid's been withdrawn (lame)   When I looked in the paper this morning, I noticed that Sid had been replaced in trap 2 byO Learys Sophie. I then phoned the kennel to ask what was wrong, but with the trainer and his Wife Sue on holiday, and his daughter Donna at the track with the BAGS runners, I was told by the lady who answered the phone that according to one of the kennel girls, Sid has hurt his shoulder, but she could tell me no more than that. I told her not to worry and that I will see Donna tomorrow morning when I pop down to walk Sid.

I was wondering if he did it in the race last week, then that would account for what I thought was a disappointing run by Sid that night. He did hit the 2 dog quite hard at the first bend that night, so I am guessing that it is his off fore shoulder that is the problem. But I am not sure, so I will update this page tomorrow after I have been to the kennels.

9th November

Below is a photo of me advising Sid that he needs to do better on Saturday, or else. LOL

Sid's next race is on Saturday and would you believe it, this will be the 50th race of his career and he is now 3 1/2 years old. In another 6 months he will be eligible for veteran races I think ?.

The last 2 races at Romford look interesting to me, in the 12th race at 10.24pm. Sid will be racing against HOLMES SHAUNA,. Sid is a lot fitter than last time they met on 28th July and I am wondering if he will beat her this time.

Also in the last race we have BOBBING DREAM running in a 750m graded race. If she can show the same enthusiasm as last week then she should win easily and as I said last week, if her price is not too short with the bookies then I will be having my money on her, That's if I can get my hands on some. lol  Oh look I found a credit card, what luck, should I buy some food or have a bet?. I just remembered,  I am on a diet so a bet it will be. lol

Trap  1  Spark A Rumble. (R)  is quick away and beat Sid to the first bend last time they met, causing Sid to check up behind him which cost him any chance he might of had in the race. This dog is running well at the moment winning an S2 in a good time a couple of races back

Trap  2  Sid. Non Runner  (R)  I am not sure if Sid can lead T1 to the first bend but, so long as he stays out of trouble he should go well, he only has the one railer to contend with in this race. trap 3 has got E/P but according to race comments he is a middle runner and traps 4,5 & 6 are all wide.

Trap  3  Indy Boy. (M)  another one with a bit of early pace who run well last time out. this is only his 5th race at Romford but he has won an open and an S1 at Walthmstow over 640m

Trap  4  Vitini Junior. (W)  His last win was 10 races ago, but he only runs in S1 & open company. he was beaten over 14L last time out at Walthamstow by the brilliant SPIRIDON LOUIS  who is still only a puppy and who broke the 640m track record that night.

Trap  5  Mercury Diamond. (W)  this bitch is running very well at the moment winning her last 2 S1 races, her form reads, 2nd 1st 4th 1st 2nd 3rd 1st 1st. the 3rd was when she was beaten by Sid but she was unlucky coming off the last bend as trap 3 gave her a bump as they entered the run in and Sid only beat her by 1L.

Trap  6  Holmes Shauna. (W)   recently returned after being off lame. she won a 400m race in good style coming from last to first if I remember rightly. didn't do so good last time out in open company over 575m. I have a gut feeling that Sid is going to bet her this time , but whether he wins the race or not is another matter.

Some good news, even if Sid comes last in this race, the prize money he will receive is double what he got for finishing 3rd in last weeks open Race. yep you are right I am being sarcastic again. lol but it is true.

4th November

I was a bit disappointed with Sid's run last night, after he managed to get the lead at the first bend, he went on to do the slowest time he has ever done over the 750m trip and after last week when he did his best ever time for the 750m trip, I was hoping for at least as good a time this time, but no, he was a good 5 lengths slower and beaten by 3 1/2L. I don't mind that trap 4 beat us again because she is a good bitch, but to be beaten for 2nd place by trap 2 who found so much trouble in the race and was at least 10L behind Sid at the winning line first time around, that did pee me off, because Sid has beat her before over this distance. Having said that, without any trouble in the race, trap 2 Bobbing Dream would of won the race easily, so get your money on her next time she runs, I will.

After the way Sid was beaten last night, I will be asking the trainer to drop him back down to 575m graded races and as for the mercury trophy and Sky races, No chance.

Click here to see race result.

2nd November

Sid races again on Friday, in an open race over 750m. He runs from trap 1 in the last race at 10.40pm against 4 of the dogs he met last Friday.

Trap  1  Sid. (R)  I am hoping he traps a lot better this time, in order to have the lead at the first bend

Trap  2  Bobbing Dream. (R)  Beat Sid to the bend last time and could do the same again.

Trap  3  Leg It Slippy. (R)  This is another youngster, I am not too sure what to expect from her as she has never raced around Romford before or even had a trial from what I can see, I am not sure she can lead the 4 and therefore I think she will find this a bit of a test first time around Romford

Trap  4  Walk The Line. (R)  This is the one who lead all the way last week to beat Sid. She was in trap 2 last week, but I don't think trap 4 will worry her too much as she has won from it on a number of occasions, but this time she has 3 dogs on her inside that could keep her out to the middle of the track, and worse still, Hondo betty in 6 has been swerving straight to rails recently from the outside traps, so she could end up being the meat in the sandwich if she is not very quick away.

Trap  5  Viparsheda.  (M to R)  Now this is the bitch I said we should keep our eye on. she was slow away last time out, in only her 2nd race at Romford, but made up a lot of ground to finish 2nd beaten only 1L in a fast time of 35.87. I said she will be winning soon but I hope its not in this race. lol.

Trap  6  Hondo Betty.  (W)  Out of form at the moment but on her day is more than capable of going very well over this trip. She had a trial at Romford on Tuesday over 400m clocking (4.06 sec)  24.92 but the comment read swerved run up.

I just hope That Sid gets away quicker this time and runs a goods race win or lose.

28th October

Not a bad run by Sid last night, he didn't trap as well as traps 2 & 3 and I felt the 3 dog got in his way a bit going around the first 2 bends but even after that he still managed to do his best ever calculated time for the 750m trip to finish 3rd beaten 2 3/4L.

The favourite in trap 2 lead all the way to win in a fast time of 47.58 and she is still only a pup. Archers Sparkler didn't run as well as I had expected and Hondo Betty was all over the place.

I hope we race against the winner again soon and if Sid can just get out the boxes a bit quicker and doesn't let her get so far in front, I am sure he can finish a lot closer, but we will see.   Click here to see race result.

25th October

Sid's next race is on Friday night, he is running from trap 1 in the last race, an open over 750m.  I am hoping Sid runs very well in this race because if he can prove he is good enough over this trip, I would love him to be entered for the Tony Byerley Mercury Trophy in December, which Sid's mum won in 2001. there is also the SKY meeting the week before, so he has a few weeks to get 100 percent fit.  OK that's enough dreaming for now, lets look at the race on Friday, there are some good dogs in the race and Sid will have to have his trapping boots on if wants to get a nice long lead in order to hang on up the home straight.

Trap  1  Sid. (R)  I am hoping for a good run from Sid, lets hope he pings the lids.

Trap  2  Walk The Line. (R)  This is a bitch pup with some early pace, who lead all the way last week in an open over this trip and just held on to win by a short head.

Trap  3  Bobbing Dream. (R)  This is another early pace bitch, Sid beat her last time they meet but she has won her last 4 out 5 races over this trip since then and is a big danger.

Trap  4  Central Control. (R)  His last win was 17 races ago at Romford over 575m and is another one with early pace that could lead Sid to the bend.

Trap  5  Hondo Betty. (M)  She beat Sid by 5 1/2L the last time they meet in a very fast time of 47.24 but she has not won a race since then out of 8 starts.

Trap  6  Archers Sparkler. (W)  I think this bitch is the biggest danger to Sid in this race, she has the ability to lead or come from behind, she run very well at Sittingbourne when winning last Sunday and she has the benefit of being the only wide runner in the race.

This is a tricky race for Sid, he has to be in the lead by the 2nd last bend and can not afford to have traps 5 & 6 too close behind him at this stage, as he will be fading up the home straight. Another problem could be that traps 1,2,3 & 4 all being railers just get in each others way handing the race to traps 5 & 6, but then again if they do all reach the first bend together at least Sid has the benefit of being in trap 1. So we will just have to wait and see. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for a clean run race.

22nd October

Sid wins again.  and everyone in our group went home happy last night after Sid won his race, as they all had a small bet on him.

The race went exactly as I had thought and hoped it would go. To start with Sid did lead T1 to the first bend, which put him in 5th position rounding the first 2 bends, as they past the winning line for the first time and approached the 3rd bend Sid had moved into 4th place and as they come off the 4th bend he was 3rd but some 4 lengths behind the 2 leaders traps 3 & 4, then Sid flew down the back straight to nearly get level with the 2 leaders who were side by side at the 5th bend, Sid had to check up a little behind them and followed them closely around the last 2 bends but as they moved off the rails entering the home straight Sid went for it on the inside and won by 3/4L in a time of 36.36. at an SP of 3/1. So once again well done to Sid.

I went to walk Sid today and I am happy to report that he has come off ok. We have decided to put Sid back up to 750m as he did stay on quite well up to the pick up although I think the other dogs were fading a bit. So Hopefully Sid's next race will be on Friday in an open race.        Click here to see race result.

Viparsheda had her first race last night, she missed her break completely and was out off the race from the start finishing 5th beaten 5.1/2L but I am sure she will do better next time.

19th October

Sid is running on Saturday evening to the delight of myself and my work mates who have a table booked in the restaurant for our bosses leaving party.

Obviously the race is a bit harder than last weeks S2, as Sid has been up graded to an S1, but if he runs anywhere near as well as he did last week, he must be in with a shout, so long as he can catch the early leaders and does not find any trouble in running. This time Sid is running from trap 2 in the 12th race at 10.24pm.

Trap  1  Involved Again. (R)   she has done around the same sectional times as Sid, but I will have my fingers crossed that Sid can lead her to the first bend this time. Her last win over this trip was on the 31st July in an S2 when she clocked 36.66

Trap  2  Sid. (R)    I am hoping for a good run from Sid like last week, win or lose

Trap  3  Marydes. (M)  she is only 2 years old and has had two wins & two 2nd's in her last four graded races over this trip, going through the grades from S3 to S1. She has good early pace and should lead up Sid, her best time to date is 36.50

Trap  4  Kallums Star. (M)  Another early pace dog for Sid to get after, his last win was 4 races ago in an S2, clocking 36.22 and he is more than capable of winning this race if things go his way.

Trap  5  Mercury Diamond. (W)  22 wins and 16 2nd's from 79 races, this is a bitch returning to form, having 2 wins & 2 2nd's from her last 4 graded races and is an obvious danger. She is also capable of leading Sid to the bend.

Trap  6  Soca Samba. (W)   inconsistent trapper sometimes fast away sometimes very slow away, with sectional times of between 13.90 and 14.76  and race times of between 36.38 & 37.07 who knows what she will do this time.

At the very worst ( baring injury) Sid could be the last one to reach the first bend and he will then have to try and get past all 5 runners during the race. but having said that, having 2 wide and 2 middle runners in the race could help him a bit. So we will see.

14th October

Why don't I have a little bit more faith in my dog, Lol. He run a blinder tonight and won easily by 5 1/2 lengths, in a winning time of 36.45 @ 4/1 and did a very fast sectional time for Sid of 14.15.  The going was 20 Slow which gives him a calculated time of 36.25 not bad at all. Well done Sid, that's his best time over 575m to date.

From the start of the race Sid was in 2nd position and as they past the wining line for the first time Sid was about 2L behind trap 3 but Sid managed to get level with the 3 dog half way down the back straight and was in the lead by the 2nd last bend, as he come off the last bend he just kept pulling further and further away all the way to the pick up. Fantastic, Lovely, Brilliant.    Click here to see race result.

12th October

Sid returns to racing on Saturday. He runs from trap 1 in the 10th race at 9.52pm, he has been dropped a grade to S2 which looked promising to start with but after a closer look at the race I don't think it's any easier than the S1's he was in.

Trap  1  Sid     he always seems to do better times in his races compared with his trials.

Trap  2  Calliram  usually

Trap  3  Self Destruction  run his last 3 races in S2 company finishing 2nd, 1st & 3rd.

Trap  4  Top Legend  won his last S2 race in a fast time of 36.29 and was not up graded for that win. that's 2 wins from his last 3 races over this trip with a 2nd in between.

Trap  5  Petite Millie  was in the trial after Sid's, ( a solo ) on Tuesday and her time was 3 lengths faster than Sid.

Trap  6  Dysert Polka    won an S1 on the 6th Sept in a time of 36.11 but has not got anywhere near that time in her last 5 races.

I will be happy if Sid can finish in the first 3 in his comeback race and doesn't find too much trouble in running. and of course comes off sound.

I have added another link for the race commentaries at Romford. I prefer this one myself as it's the tracks own commentator and he is very good, but when connected you will only hear him when it's getting near time for the race. After the race he goes through the video replay again. He also gives you a run down of the runners about 3 minutes before the off.

11th October

Sid did OK in his trial yesterday, he lead all the way to win the trial by 1L in a time of 37.02 the going was -50 slow, giving him a calculated time of 36.52. I was more than happy with that time considering his sectional time was a very slow 14.50

The bitch who finished 2nd in the trial is just over 2 years old and in a 300 yard trial around Limerick, back in August, she went a length faster than Sid  managed to do when he had a trial over there in Ireland. She has won 2 races in Ireland over 700 yrds and 750 yrds. If this was her first trial at Romford then she went very well indeed, so keep your eye out for this one when she starts racing. her name was changed from  Dalcash Amy to Viparsheda.

Hopefully Sid will be on the card this Saturday because I want to ask the racing office if he could also run the following Saturday as well, as a group of us from work are having a leaving party for our boss and have got a table booked in the restaurant that night and they said they would all love to see Sid race if possible, so fingers crossed.

9th October

I went to visit Sid on Sunday and I am happy to say that his foot looks completely healed and he looked in good shape.  Sid is due to have a 3 dog trial over 575m on Tuesday morning and I will be there to watch him. I will be hoping for a time of around 36.80, but we will see. If Sid goes well in his trial, then we could be running on Saturday if we are lucky .

6th October

19 days since I last updated the site, so here we go. I did go to visit my family up north but did not get to see any flapping track, due to the fact that while I was sleeping at my mums  someone tried to break into my car and broke my windscreen. Then I had to wait 2 days for autoglass to order a replacement and repair it by which time it was time to come home.

Then I went to north Wales for a few days and it was absolutely beautiful. But now I am back to lovely Basildon, lol and what do you know it's raining again.

Now for Sid, his foot looked a lot better the last time I walked him and he had a 2 dog trial before racing on Wednesday, he was 2nd all the way around and was beaten 1 3/4L clocking a time of 25.01 on a normal track. I am satisfied with that time for now, as he has been off the track for 5 weeks now.  I should imagine he will need another 575m trial before he will start racing again. I will find out more when I walk him on Sunday.

Due to a shortage of web space I will be moving all Sid's races to YouTube TV.

O yes and also O Learys Sophie won again on Saturday 30th Sept at 9/2. Well done, That's 2 from 3 now with a 2nd in between.

17th September

I took Sid for his walk today and had a quick chat with his trainer, Jim. He told me that Sid's foot is healing very well but will need another week or two of the card as he wants the skin to harden. I had a look and it does look just a little bit tender at the moment. It would be pointless expecting the dog to run with a sore foot, it would just aggravate the injury and possibly get infected. So we must be patient and wait a few more weeks.

I am off work next week and will popping up north to visit my mum and sister who live in Morpeth, Northumberland. So no walks for Sid that week. I might try to visit some flapping tracks while I am up there, all the flaps down here have closed down. If I get any more news on Sid I will post it on the site.

O Learys Sophie Finally won a Race last night over 750m at 9/2, that was her 13th race, so lucky for some. Congratulations to her owner Mr. S Locke.

14th September

No racing for Sid again this week, so I have added a Sid's race video page to the web site. Mr. Brown of VERONA BROWN VIDEOS, returned my call and has given me permission to put some of Sid's race on the site. The link is on the left hand side in green.

10th September

Well it's Sunday again, so off I went to see Sid at the kennels, and to ask why he has not been on the card recently. I had heard that there has been some sickness in the kennel. I was expecting Sue ( Jims wife ) to say that Sid has had it and will have to trial in again before he can race, but there are no trials this week so etc, etc. But when the kennel girl brought him to me, from his kennel, he looked as happy as ever and there was no sign of any weight loose, so that was good. After our two laps of the field we headed back to the kennel for Sid's favourite part of the day, FOOD. It was then that I saw sue and asked her if everything was ok with Sid. She told me that after Sid's last race, they had found that Sid had a very bad sand burn and a slightly split web. They decide to cut the web right back because if they didn't, it would usually just keep splitting after each race and then get very sore. Sue also said it was healing very well and there shouldn't be any need for Sid to have another trial before his next race. Apart from that everything is ok and hopefully he will race this week with no ill affects.

2nd September

Sid did not manage to lead at the first bend as I had hoped, in fact he was only 5th and the Favourite was out and gone, as they went down the back straight for the first time Sid moved into 2nd place but was a good 5 lengths behind the Fav. Sid got to within 1L of the leader by the 2nd last bend, but as we all know he finds the distance a bit much after that and T5 pulled away to win by 5 1/2L in a very very fast time of  (24.24 sec)  47.24.  Having said that Sid still ran very well and Easily beat the other 4 runners clocking (24.44 sec)  47.68.  So once again well done Sid.   Click here to see race result.

29th August

Sid has been entered for another open race over 750m on Friday night.  This time he will be running from trap 3 in the last race at 10.40pm.

Trap  1  Tino Spark (R)  Best times.  (24.69   48.36  in O/R

Trap  2  Involved Again. (R)     Best times.  (24.82)  and  48.39  in E3

Trap  3  Sid. (R) Good luck Sid.    Best times.  (24.76)    48.37 cal  in E3

Trap  4  Dower Shakira. (W)   Best timesN/A

Trap  5  Hondo Betty. (W)   Best times.  (24.62   48.10 or  47.91 cal  both  in O/R

Trap  6  Alrita Lilac. (W)  Best times.  (24.69   48.20  in O/R

A quick look at the dogs.  T1 was off the track for a good 2 months, may & June, was beaten over 8L by Holmes Shauna over 575m last Friday, but should improve on that run. Has won over this trip last year.

T2 Finished 3rd to Sid over this trip 2 weeks ago, but won last Saturday.

T3 I believe that Sid can lead T1 & T2 to the first bend, and I am hoping for another good run from him.

T4 coming up for 2 years old and has only had 6 races to date, all at Walthamstow and has won 3 of them, looks like she is going to be a good little bitch in the future, First time around Romford and she might just need the look.

T5 Sid beat this one last week when it was odds on 4/9F, but I know she is capable of running a lot better than she did last week and is the obvious danger.

T6 Beat Sid by over 4L in Sid's very first race at Romford, when completing a hat trick. Has had 5 runs since then, 2nd three times and 3rd twice. Runs well over this trip and stays on really strong.

I am hoping That Sid pings the lids and gets a nice clear run on the inside, and then gets a nice long lead on  Traps 5 & 6.

26th August

Sid wins again. And he had to work very hard to do it. Trap 2 was slow away again and as they rounded the first bend, Sid and T3 come together, bumping each other which left T4 and the odds on favourite T6 to take up the lead. Sid chased them well down the back straight making up a good two lengths by the 3rd bend. As they come off the 4th bend Sid took the lead and went a good 3L clear at the 5th bend. He managed to keep the 3L lead until he reached the last bend, then he started to weaken, but held on gamely to beat T2 O Learys Sophie who stayed on really well, by 3/4L.  That's one to keep your eye on for the future. The favourite finished 3rd.   Click here to see race result.  Well done Sid.

23rd August

Sid has been entered for an open race over 750m on Friday night.   He will be running from trap 1 in the last race at 10.40pm. Obviously it is a tougher race than last week and he will need to be very quick away, as he was last time out, in order to lead. It will be a 5 dog race as trap 5 is vacant.

Trap  1  Sid. (R) Good luck Sid.    Best times.  (24.76)    48.37 cal  in E3

Trap  2  O Learys Sophie. (R)   Best times.  (25.49  48.97 cal  in O/R

Trap  3  Top Bombin. (R)   Best times.  (24.48)    48.12  in O/R

Trap  4  Fintansnightmare. (M    Best times.  N/A

Trap  5  VACANT.

Trap  6  Hondo Betty. (W)   Best times.  (24.62   48.10 or  47.91 cal  both  in O/R

A quick look at the dogs. We know what Sid can do, and his trainer said he feels that Sid should stay the trip a little better with the more runs he has. if he improves just a little bit I will be happy, win or loose.

O Learys Sophie, was withdrawn from Sid's race last week due to it running in an open race at Sittingbourne the following day. Has been running S1 and Opens but has been slow away on her last 6 starts. lets hope she is slow away again. she is not a bad bitch and can improve on her earlier runs as she has only had 9 races to date.

Top Bombin. Was trained by Claude Gardiner at Hove before being moved to Paul young at Romford, has won a few races over this trip and this is one that Sid will need to lead up at the first bend.

Fintansnightmare. has been doing well over 6 bends at Wimbledon, was beaten at Romford last time out over 575m but will improve on her second look at the track. At Wimbledon she has been very quick away. runs middle to rails so lets hope Sid leads this one up too.

Hondo Betty. Won her last 5 races over this trip, all in good times, and I think is sure to be the favourite on the night. She has the added advantage of being the only wide runner in the race plus trap 5 being vacant. I would love to see Sid give this one a run for her money. She has very consistent sectional times.

20th August

First win for Sid at Romford.

Sid managed to lead all the way last night, to win the 750m race by just under 3L. His sectional time for the first 400m was a very nice 24.76. That time would of won any of the 7 races over the 400m trip on the night, even the A1, which was won in the same time, the going for the 400m distance was -20. Giving Sid a fantastic 24.56 cal. It was nice to see Sid win again after what seems like ages, in fact nearly 6 months and I can not wait to fuss him tomorrow.  His time for the 750m trip was 48.87 and the going was -50 giving Sid a calculated time of 48 37.   Click here to see race result.

18th August

Once again Sid runs on Saturday in the last race, only this time over a new distance of 750m.   It is an E3 graded race over 8 bends and he runs from trap 1.

I remember his only race at Hove over 740m, when, as last week the outside was running better than the inside and trap 6 won most of the races. On that occasion Sid lead all the way but was caught on the line by trap 6 and was beaten by the shortest of short heads.

I know that 750m is about 100m further than Sid's best distance and he will be fading off the last bend, but I would expect him to run a very good race in this grade. The main dangers, in my opinion, are trap 3 & 6 if he is too close to Sid coming off the last bend.

Trap  1  Sid.  Good luck Sid.  Best times.  (3.84) 25.09  and    (14.28) 36.35  in S1

Trap  2  Involved Again.   once again fast away rails, expect the same as last week for Sid if 2 misses the break. Best times.  (3.84) 24.85  and    (14.04) 36.36  in S2

Trap  3  O Learys Sophie.   N/R - - Replaced with Bobbing Dream, who is a fast away, railer, and will probably be the favourite for this race. Best times.  (3.81) 24.78  and    (14.16) 36.32  in S1.  (24.67) 48.11  in O/R

Trap  4  Princess Beth.   Been running S4 & E4, has a lot to do, middle.  Best times.  (3.87) 25.01  and    (14.40) 36.84  in  S3  (24.80) 48.20 in E3

Trap  5  Jo Jo Rumble.    Again been running S4 & E4, has a lot to do.  Middle to wide. Best times.  (14.54) 36.74  in  S3  (25.44) 49.52 in E4

Trap  6  Airtech Choice.   Been running S2 & E3, every now and again comes out with a fast time.   Best times.  (14.19) 36.25  in  S2 last time out, Wide. (25.96) 48.54 in E3

With 3 railers and 2 middle runners Sid can not afford to be slow away and stuck at the back, because he will find it very difficult to get passed them all. But, we will see.

UPDATE

There has been a change of runners in Sid's race. Trap 3 has been replaced with  Bobbing Dream,  I would expect this one to lead all the way, and even with a clear run it would be very difficult for Sid to peg this one back. I will be praying for Sid to ping the lids, because he will need at least a 2 length head start in order for him not to be passed before reaching the first bend. And I hope no one gets injured like last week.

13th August

Well can you believe it, the same thing happened as last week. Trouble at the first bend and again Trap 2 who I thought would lead up, missed the break but then with its early pace caught Sid up by the first bend then cut across Sid making him check , Trap 5 bumped into T4 and then the 4 dog went badly lame. Trap 6 the only wide runner in the race went around the outside missing all the trouble and went on to win the race, it was 2/1 Fav. Trap 3 did beat Sid to the first bend and also missed the trouble to finish 2nd and he ran a very good race. Sid again ran on to finish 3rd beaten a very long way.

I did not expect Sid to win last night, due to the fact that the inside was running slower than the middle to outside of the track but I was hoping he would finish 2nd to the fav. Trap 6 won 6 of the 13 races last night with traps 3, 4, and5 taking the rest of the races and the inside runners had no chance.   Click here to see race result.

11th August

Sid runs tomorrow (Sat) in the last race at 10.40pm.  He meets 2 dogs who both beat him for second place in previous races, but I know that if Sid does not find any trouble this time that he is capable of beating them.

Trap  1  Sid   Fingers crossed for another good run.  Best time   36.65  -30   36.35

Trap  2  Woo Hoo  Should beat Sid to the first bend   Best time   36.07  N

Trap  3  Spark a Rumble Not too quick away, Sid needs to be at least level with this railer at the first bend or he may have trouble trying to pass the leaders.  Best time  36.37

Trap  4  Randals Pepe  Fast away middle, and one to catch  Best time   36.42  -40   36.02

Trap  5  Zoltan Champ Fast away middle, another one to catch Best time  36.39  -20  36.19

Trap  6  Pacey Macy  Early pace, wide, should get a nice run on the outside, another one to try and catch, she beat Sid for 2nd place by 1 1/2L in Sid's last race. Best time  36.43  N

I think trap 2 will lead up at the first bend, with traps 6, 5, and 4 on her outside. It's possible that trap 3 will get to the first bend before Sid and with 3 railers and 2 middle runners in the race, that would make it very difficult for Sid to get passed them all in order to win the race.

It looks like traps 2, the only railer with early pace and trap 6 the only wide runner, should get a nice clean run and are the two to catch.

O no. The racing post tip Sid to win the race. Lets hope he is right .lol

6th August

Sid finds trouble again at the first bend and did very well to finish 3rd. Trap 2 who I thought would lead up, missed the break but then with its early pace caught Sid up by the first bend then cut across Sid making him check up and then bump into the dog on his outside which left him in an impossible position to win from. His sectional time of 14.64 says it all. He was a long way behind the leader, but tried his best and stayed on really well, and most importantly he came off sound.  Click here to see race result.  The going was -50 slow.

4th August

Sid runs tomorrow in the 11th race at 10.08pm. Running from trap 1. it's a race I think he has a slight chance of winning, although he will probably be stone last to start with, if he gets a clear run all the way around and no one gets in his way, he might just pick then off one by one.

Trap  1  Sid   Fingers crossed for another good run.  Best time   36.65  -30   36.35

Trap  2  Beat Them Carri  Fast away should lead  Best time   36.24  N

Trap  3  Gems Star  Running well, should be up with the 2 dog  Best time  36.10  -30  35.80

Trap  4  Leannes Faith  Slow away but not as slow as Sid  Best time   36.41  -30   36.21

Trap  5  Pacey Macy  early pace and wide run against good dogs  Best time  36.43  N

Trap  6  Mercury Diamond  Slow away and wide can do better  Best time  36.45  -30  36.15

So with just a couple of lengths improvement Sid might be in with a shout.

29th July

Sid run a blinder last night considering he was in another hard race. After getting in a tangle with trap 2 at the first bend, which lost him 2 or 3 lengths he stayed on well to finish 3rd behind traps 6 and 4 beaten only 2.75L.  That's a very good performance by Sid and I expect him to improve even more over the next 6 weeks or so as his fitness improves.

Click here to see race result.

I will be giving Sid a real big fuss when I see him on Sunday. Hopefully Sid's next race will not get any harder. Fingers crossed he might even win.

28th July

Hello again, well you probably want be surprised to hear that HOLMES SHAUNA won his first race at Romford by 5L on a very fast track, clocking 35.66 and will now race against Sid on Friday night in an S1 graded race.

Friday night is OPEN race night at Romford but they have decided to put one graded race on the card at 9.04pm, it's the Les Pearce 80th Birthday Stakes so there is a trophy up for grabs and Sid knows how much I love to take the trophies home with me. lol

Now for anybody who dose not know much about Greyhound racing, an open race is where the trainers enter their greyhounds in races they believe they have a good chance of winning and it could be at any track, they range from miner opens to major opens for the very good dogs.

Now graded races are put together by the racing manager for that particular track and in theory all 6 dogs in that race should have a chance of winning if things go there way. They try to grade them safe and fair, so you would not expect to see for example 6 early paced railers  in the same race, because  if they all reached the first bend at the same time it would be very dangerous for the greyhounds involved and no doubt one or two would get knocked over.  usually  you would find for example 2 railers, 2 middle runners and 2 wide runners with say 3 early pace dogs and 3 that stay on strong at the end.

The grader has done a good job when in a clean run race all 6 greyhounds finish within 2 lengths of each other, and not such a good job if there is say 10 lengths between 1st and last.

Now you might think that the time Sid clocked last time out of 36.96  in a race where he found no trouble at all, compared with the time Holmes Shauna clocked last time out of 35.66 is too big a gap for any graded race, LOL. being 1.30 sec difference or over 15 lengths. Sorry, enough of my whinging. Now to look at the race in a more positive mood

Trap  1  Sid   Fingers crossed for another good run.  Best time   36.58  Solo

Trap  2  Beaming Yarra  Only ever run in S1 and opens.  Best time   36.03

Trap  3  Ardmayle Fox  Run in Sid's first race, only 3/4L behind Sid in 4th after finding trouble but ran much better on Monday when finishing 2nd.  Best time   36.24

Trap  4  Randals Pepe  Only 6 runs over this trip, 2 S2, 2 Opens and 2 S1.   2 wins from 6 races is not bad.  Best time   36.02

Trap  5  Scary Flight  Was running A1 but did run over this trip last year in S1 and Opens.  Best time   35.98  on 1/7/05

Trap  6  Holmes Shauna     Say no more.  Best time    36.16   +50

All I will say is that when Sid is running at his very best I know he is capable of beating trap 6 over this trip but I do not think it will be today.

20th July

Sid ran really well last night and I am very proud of him. just before the race the trainer ( Jim ) spotted me and came over to tell me that Sid has got a very hard race today and that we should just hope he runs well and comes off sound. He said the racing manager has graded him on his Hove form and not his trials at Romford, Jim then said as Sid is not running anywhere near that form at the moment he would expect the racing manager to drop him a grade or two after a couple of runs.

The race  Sid pinged the lids along with trap 6 (the Fav), Sid did not go straight to the rails like he used to at Hove and Trap 1 who was 2 lengths behind flew past Sid on the inside to go 2 lengths in front at the first bend with T6 taking 2nd position and Sid in 3rd. That is how it stayed until the 2nd last bend when T6 went on and T1 started to fade which allowed T3 to challenge on the inside and Sid on the outside as they headed for the winning line. Trap 6 won by 4.5L and Sid battled on well to take 2nd place beating T3 who was staying on strongly by half a length. I was over the moon as it was a good run for Sid and I can not wait for the racing manager to drop him a grade or two, lol.   click here to see result.

I had a small bet on Sid this time at 9/2  with the bookie who bets without the favourite and as Sid finished 2nd to the Favourite I won a few pound  and will treat myself to a bottle of brandy.

Surprise surprise. The dog ( HOLMES SHAUNA ) that beat Sid in an A4 at Hove and in a trial at Romford by 5 lengths on both occasions, has got his first race at Romford on Saturday night. he is running from trap 6 in the 9th race at 9.36pm, and guess what ?, it is an S2 Grade.  How come he was not graded on his Hove form.

19th July

After studying the race in a bit more detail, I have been looking at the sectional times of the 6 runners over the 400m, because I want to know who can lead to the first bend. It is very obvious that 5 will lead and should win, but when we look at the others it reads.

T 1  3.80

T 2  3.84   Sid  first look around the track remember.

T 3  3.82

T4   3.89

T 5  3.70   in an A2 which he won by 5L in a time of 24.54

T 6  3.92

Now I would expect Sid to improve on that sectional time by at least half a length  which is 4 spot, that would bring him down to 3.80.  So what I am saying is if he can ping the lids he could find himself in 2nd position at the first bend and then that would be interesting.  but we must remember that the weather this week is scorching and today is the hottest day ever for years, in the top 90's they say, and that can take a lot out of some dogs and can make the race form look a load of old tosh. Anyway we will see.

GOOD LUCK SID

17th July

Well Sid has finally got his first race at Romford, but I am not too happy about the grade he is in. In fact I am very disappointed that he has been put in an S1 grade with dog's that are more than half a second faster than Sid. when Sid had a trial at Romford a few weeks ago there was a dog in the same trial session who was 3 lengths faster than Sid and that dog went straight into an S2, so obviously I was hoping Sid would be graded S2 or lower.

Anyway lets look at the race in detail, Sid is in trap 2 in the last race on Wednesday at 10.30pm, his best time so far is 36.58 in a solo.

Trap 1 found trouble at the first bend  in an S1 last time out, and went on to finish 2nd beaten a very short head in a time of 36.34, so you know he can do quicker than that with a clear run.

Trap 2 Sid

Trap 3  On the 8th July led all the way to win in 36.02 going  +20

Trap 4 On the 26th April lead all the way in an S1 and clocked 35.96 going+30 although his best time recently was when he won an S2 in 36.15 going+30

trap 5 won his last 2 races, both S1 in times of 35.94 and 36.18

trap 6 Has only raced in opens apart from his last 2 races in S1. his best time being 36.09 going +20

Eight weeks to get on the card and that is what he gets, it would of been quicker to of entered him for 3 open races and finished last in them all and got paid £60 towards the Kennel bill.

I hope Sid wins and pisses them all off. But he must not go faster than 36.08 lol.

13th July

Sid had a solo trial last night ( Wednesday ) before racing and went OK.  He clocked 36.58 his best time over the 575m trip so far, but it still would not of been good enough to of won any of the three 6 bend races on the card last night. there was an S3 that was won in a time of 36.41 and two S2 races won in times of  36.49 & 36.24 . But Sid's time should of been good enough to get him on the race card and hopefully Sid's first race at Romford will not be too far away now.

9th July

Sunday and off to see Sid, as I arrived at the kennels I saw the trainer, Jim, outside and he came over to have a word. Apparently the racing office was not too happy with Sid's last trial, they felt that he should of finished closer to the winner as they were of the same grade at Hove, not entirely right as the dog that beat him last week ran in A2, A3 and opens at Hove, where as Sid always run in A4 and should of been dropped to A5 really.

The only time they did run in the same race was back in January  in an A4  when the same dog Beat Sid by 5L clocking 30.14 and 5L is how far he beat Sid in the trial last week.

Anyway, now Sid has got to have another trial before they will grade him. Jim said he will try hard to get him one before racing this week.

While I was looking on the internet the other day I found the Romford Greyhound Stadium web site and what do you know, they put all race and trial results on there and also the advanced card. good news I thought but they messed up with the sheet for Sid's first trial by putting Thursdays race result there by mistake and where Thursdays race results should of been they put Tuesdays 1st trial session results but Sid was in the 2nd trial session so is not on there at all. lol, but they do try bless them.

Well that's all for this week, lets hope he racing by next week.

6th July

I took Sid for a walk on Sunday and was told that the trainer had made a mistake with Sid and his trials, apparently he thought Sid had already had the three trials he needed to qualify for racing and he was expecting Sid to of raced while he was on holiday.

So after work on Tuesday morning I was off to Romford to watch Sid's 3rd and final trial. Sid was running from Trap 1 in a 3 dog trial.  He started ok from the traps but eased at the first bend giving the other 2 dogs a lead of a length or 2. Coming off the 2nd bend he showed so pace to take 2nd position 2L behind trap 5, but after rounding the 4th bend it looked as if he stumbled a little and lost another 2L. he then went on to finish 2nd beaten 5L. the winners time was 36.47  and I was hoping Sid could get close to 36.50 this time but his actual time was 36.87, I suppose I should be happy with that time as he has done nothing in the last 4 weeks and has not had a race for nearly 2 months now. I am not sure yet what the going was for Tuesdays trial session  but I would guess it was normal going.

I am now hoping that Sid gets his first race at Romford on Saturday evening and I would be surprised if he is graded higher than S2.

26th June

Another walk for Sid on Sunday, and the trainer is still on holiday and he is not due back now until Friday, so Sid will not trial until Tuesday 4th July and that's a 4 week gap and I am not too happy about it, as he only needs one more trial to start racing.

I have added a photos page to the site which contains a few new pictures of Sid and I am also going to try to upload some video of some of Sid's wins and close 2nds. I am not sure yet how I go about doing it and I have to ask for permission first, but fingers crossed.

21st June

Still nothing to report on Sid. My leg is a lot better now and I have returned to work, so I did take Sid for his walk on Sunday. He is looking happy and in good condition, but I must admit I was very surprised and slightly disappointed to see that Sid was not down to trial on Tuesday, as I said before Romford only trial once every 2 weeks and he can not race until he has had his 3rd trial. I found out on Tuesday that the trainer has gone on Holiday for 10 days so I can only imagine that he does not want Sid to race while he is away, as the trainer did have other dogs at the trial session on Tuesday. Nobody likes to see their   Greyhound sitting about in the kennels for over a month if its not lame and being rested.

I would like to thank Sue from Scotland for being the first person to leave a message in my new guest book, as it makes me feel that keeping this web site updated is a lot more worthwhile doing when you know other people are taking an interest as well.

I will soon be trying to add some more photos of Sid to the site, just as soon as I manage to get my scanner working again. well that's about it for now, all the best Graham & Sid.

14th June

Nothing to report on Sid This week because I was unable to go and see him on Sunday to give him his walk, due to the fact that I fell asleep on the the beach at Southend on Saturday and I got a bad sunburn on my right leg.  My ankle has  swollen and blistered and I can not walk on it at all at the moment. The only good thing that come out of it was that I got a week off work with sick pay. but it don't half hurt. the trouble was I had worked overtime the night before and was very tired on Saturday. Anyway enough about me.

Today I have added a Guest book the link to which is at the bottom of this sites homepage. If anyone would like to leave any comments or messages please feel free to do so. you can write anything you like, and if I do not like what I read I will delete it. Lol.

7th June

Yesterday Sid had a 3 dog trial over 575m and ran from trap 1. he trapped well and was only about 2L behind the leader at the first bend. After the 4th bend he showed some good pace down the back straight  to take a 3 to 4L lead at the 5th bend, then went on to win by 3 1/2L in a time of 37.15. Once again I think the going was a minimum of 30 slow. I saw the trainer after the trial and he said he was pleased with that trial. Sid needs one more trial now before he can be used for graded races and I am hoping he gets one before racing one night so I do not have to wait another 2 weeks

I have just found out that the going was 50 slow, giving Sid a calculated time of 36.65

29th May

I went to walk Sid on Sunday and I saw something I have not seen in a long time, sunshine, and very nice it was too, anyway, Sid has settled in very well at his new kennels. I was told by the trainer that they only have trials at Romford once a fortnight, so no trial this week for Sid but he might try and enter him for an open race on Friday and the time Sid does in that race would be used to help grade him for graded races, but I think he will still need at least one more trial or race after that before they can use him for grading.

23rd May

Sid had his first trial around Romford this afternoon, and it was another rainy day here in drought stricken Essex. He ran from Trap 2 in a 3 dog trial and finished 2nd beaten 1L. He clocked 25.36 on a very wet track that must of been on the slow side.  Unfortunatly Romford has not got a web site that provides trial and race results so it will take me a bit longer to get all the facts, such as sectional times and going allowance.  I thought Sid run the track very well except the first bend where he went a bit wide, but that was to be expected first time around Romford as it is a much tighter track than Hove. But all in all I am very pleased with that run. I was told by an owner at the track that Sid's time was inside the grading time for the 400m trip.

I have just found out that the going was 30 slow, giving Sid a calculated time of 25.06.

21st May

Sid moved kennels today

Sid had a safe journey from Derek's Kennels in Brighton to Jim Reynolds Kennels in South Ockendon, Essex. Although the weather was terrible, pouring down with rain again all day. And they keep saying on the news that we are going to have a water shortage, worse than 1975/1976, are they taking the P or what.  Anyway back to Sid, he seems to of settled in ok what with the kennel girls giving him a good old fuss and something to eat. He was wagging his tail when I left him, which is nice to see. Jim told me he will hopefully get a trial for Sid this Tuesday over 400m just so he can have a look around the track but he will not race over 400m. It will be 575m or 750m for Sid depending on how he goes.

19th May

Sid ran well last night to finish 2nd behind trap 3 who was the favourite.  trap 3 lead all the way and stayed on strongly and was never going to be caught, trap 6 did not run as well as I had expected, but it was his first time over the trip, I remember Sid's first race over 6 bends and it was terrible.   Click here to see race result

18th May

There has been a change to Sid's race. Trap 5 which I was hoping would hold up trap 6 a bit is a non runner, so trap 5 is now vacant, giving trap 6 an even better chance of winning with a clear run around the outside. Trap 4 who I said had not got a hope in hell of winning has been replaced with Casino wizard who on his day is a slightly better dog. so I now feel that it will be a close thing between traps 3 and 6 with hopefully Sid getting at least 3rd.

16th May

Sid's last race at Hove

Sid's next Race is on Thursday, and this will be his last race at Hove before moving to a Romford trainer on Sunday. It is a big shame to have to take Sid away from Hove as it is a nice big safe track to run but they just do not have enough 6 bend races there and Sid is struggling over the 515m

Sid will run from trap 1  in the 7th race at 9.07pm. It is a S1 graded race over 695m.  the race is between T3 and T6, if 3 leads and gets a clear run it should win, T6 will get a clear run but must improve on it 41.95 time he did over the trip last time, but he has been doing good times in A1 and A2 races.  Sid should finish at least 3rd or 4th and in my opinion poor T4 hasn't a hope in hell of winning.

To see the race card click here Then click on Thursday Full Form pdf  you will need adobe reader.

9th May

Buna ziua, Lol There is no stopping me now with this Romanian Language. Sid did not run to clever on Wednesday and the time was not that brilliant but the winner did do a good time. I can not move Sid yet as the Romford kennels are full at the moment so I will just have to wait.   Click here to see race result

7th May

I have Just got back from a very nice Holiday in Romania to find it raining here. What a surprise that is. Lol.  Sid ran ok last time out, he finished 3rd beaten 1L.   Click here to see race result

He  is running again today in another BAGS race over four bends at Hove. Sid runs from T1 in the 5th race at 12.28 and that's live in the betting shops. He might win if he can stay close enough to the leaders, but don't hold your breath.

It's back to work for me in less than 10 hours, YUK. As it is now 4.30am, so Noapte Buna, ( Good night ) to you all.

25th April

Sid's next Race is on Wednesday, another bags meeting and another 4 bend race. He is running from trap 1 in the 12th race at 5.44pm.

I do not expect Sid to win he will just follow them around as usual.

I am off on holiday early Friday morning and will not return until the second week in May. When I return I will be hoping to move Sid to a Romford Trainer where Sid will race over six bends only.

20th April

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SID

3 YEARS OLD TODAY

17th April

Well what can I say, 5th beaten 2.25L and Sid's time was 30.58. will he ever win another 4 bend race ?.      Click here to see race result

Since coming back in November, after his 6 month absence from racing due to injuries , Sid has had 14 A4 races in the last 5 months and has not won any of them. will they ever drop him a grade ?. as you already know I prefer him to run over 6 bends but Hove just do not have enough races over that trip.

Soon Sid will be 3 years old, Derek has done a good job with Sid, he got him to win a small open and running well over six bends. but I am having to think now of moving Sid to somewhere were he will only run over 6 bends in graded races.

15th April

Well back to 4 bends for Sid tomorrow, he runs in the 12th race at 2.12pm live in the betting shops. not sure if he will win although the racing post tip him to win the race, but then again the racing post nearly always tip Sid to win. I think he tips him hoping he will get a bigger price on the others, and it seems to be working.

After a very quick look at the race, traps 3, 4, & 5 should lead and if Sid could lead the 2 dog he might have a chance of catching them on the line, but trap 6 is not out of it either because I think she could get a clear run around the outside and could be a big danger.

So it's no bets on Sid this week for me but if he could win it would help me out a bit with his kennel bill. SO GO SID GO.

9th April

Sid did ok in the open race on Thursday, running from trap 5, he did not get into too much trouble and finishing 4th beaten just 2.5L by Trap 2 Romford Car Two, who was disqualified for fighting on the way up to the winning line, and subsequently withdrawn from the Regency which starts on Tuesday.   Click here to see race result

Sid was not entered for the Regency and I assume it was because he is not really good enough to win it. The race is for 36 Greyhounds who progress through the heats, semi's and Final. but unfortunately Hove only had 29 entries, so there is 5 heats with 5 runners and 1 heat with just 4 runners. Shelbourne Amber who finished 4.5L behind Sid on Thursday has been entered and runs from trap 1 in heat 5.

4th April

Sid's next Race is on Thursday, it's an open race over 695m, he will run in the 6th race at 8.51pm. It is his toughest race yet, there are 5 railers in the race and never say lucky was not very lucky in the draw as he has got trap 5, but when he comes out he will go straight for the rails. If that wasn't bad enough he is also running against Trap 2 Romford Car Two who is running very well at the moment and won the NGRC STEWARDS CUP FINAL at Walthamstow on Saturday. Also Clemenson has a nice looking pup in trap 1 Shelbourne Amber. If Sid is capable of winning this race ( which I don't think he is ) Then I would expect him to be entered for the big race coming up soon at Hove, The Coral Regency. Obviously I wish he could win the race because to have a runner in the Regency would be so exciting.

3rd April

Sid finished 2nd on Sunday and the time 30.68 was not that good, when you think he has clocked 30.13 before and used to clock between 30.30 and 30.40 regularly. The winner run well and deserved to win the race.   Click here to see race result

Sid has now had 9  2nds and 6  1st out of 33 races.  lets hope he is back over 6 bends next time

31st March

Sid will be racing next in the BAGS meeting on Sunday, in an A4 graded race over 515m. He will be running from trap 1 in the 4th race at 12.14, so I will have to watch it in the local betting shop before I go to work. I think Sid is more than capable of winning this race and the main danger is trap 3 although I have a feeling that T3 will not get the best of runs this time. therefore  I believe Sid will finish with a big run in the closing stages and win his first BAGS race live in the betting shop. I will have a bet on Sid to win plus a reverse forecast on traps 1 and 5.

26th March

Sid ran really well today but unfortunately due to the very wet weather he was robbed on the winning line for first place and the opportunity off winning another trophy was gone. The outside was obviously running faster than the inside with trap 6 winning 6 times in a row. Sid was beaten by 1/100th of a second and I was gutted. But that's dog racing for you.

I could see that Sid was very tired coming off the last bend and after leading all the way from the start it is always Click here to see race result

23rd March

A new distance for Sid to race over on Saturday. The racing office have decided to use Sid for a very rare E1 graded race over 740m, Sid will be running from trap 1 in the 5th race at 8.34pm. It's still over 6 bends but the starting traps are 45m farther away from the 695m traps, so they get a longer run to the 1st bend, which should mean less trouble, fingers crossed. Who ever the w
